This is a genuine original oban size shin hanga Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957) titled "Washington kineto Potomakku kahan" (Washington Monument on the Potomac River), and dated Showa 10, August (1935). The print was published by Watanabe Shozaburo but does not bear any Watanabe seal, as the print was privately commissioned in 1934 in an edition of 300. This print is number 358 in the Kendall Brown/Hotei Hasui Catalog Raisonne. The print is in extremely fine condition. Excellent impression, very good color, excellent registration and good bleedthrough. No foxing, toning, folds or creases. The print is not trimmed or setdown.
