The print shows Daikoku, the God of Wealth (one of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune) as well as a courtesan and two of her young female attendants (shinzo) standing in a reception room (zashiki) with a formal alcove (tokonoma). Daikoku's bag of treasures and two rice bales are placed on the floor. The hanging scroll displayed in the tokonoma depicts a chokibune, a boat used by some to make their way to the pleasure quarters. The boat is filled with Daikoku's familiar attributes: a big hat, a bag of treasures and a mallet. The courtesan (dressed in a kimono with a pattern of chidori and bamboo) holds Daikoku's tsuchi (mallet) vertically on top of his head and has placed her long pipe (kiseru) horizontally on top of the mallet and across the top of the head of one of her shinzo-proving that he is a mallet-length shorter. Daikoku's kimono is decorated with a pattern of wish-granting jewels and vines.
