Beschreibung:

The warrior Kajiwara no Kagesue (ca.1162-1200) is depicted in full armor, save his helmet which lies on the ground at his feet. Although Kagesue belonged to the Taira clan, he saved Minamoto no Yoritomo during the Battle of Ishibashiyama and became one of his most faithful vassals. He fought the Taira at Minamoto no Yoshitsune's side, but later turned against him to humor Yoritomo Kagesue is identified by the two hawk-feather arrow ends (taka-no-ha), his crest design, embellishing the breastplate. He stands beside an old, blossoming plum tree and angrily wields his sword, ready to strike an enemy (not shown). Kagesue owned a stout, black horse named Surusumi, "Ink-stick."
