TSUCHIYA KOITSU (1870-1949) JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT SNOWY MOUNTAIN HORSE AND RIDER Postcard sized Woodblock Print (approximately 3. 5" x 5" / 9.5 x 12.7 cm Postcard size, 1/2 of koban size). Tate-e (vertically aligned print). One original owner. The following excerpt is from www.hanga .com. “Watanabe published numerous small prints… primarily sold to tourists or exported for the Western market. Most of these prints are thought to date from the 1930's, and several are listed in the 1936 Watanabe catalog. They were made in three different sizes: the small octavo size measuring about 85 mm x 130 mm (3.3" x 5.1"), the slightly larger postcard size, measuring about 85 mm x 156 mm (3.3" x 6.1"), and the koban size, measuring about 115 mm x 177 mm (4.5" x 7").”
