Brown notes that, "Miller bases her composition on the simple contrast of the snow bank and the inverted 'V' of the ornate temple gable. The image recalls the composition, coloration and subject of Hiroshige's famous, 'Evening Snow at Kambara' from his 53 Stages of the Tokaido' ".
