Thursday, 19 February 2009 KOBAYASHI KIYOCHIKA Ariakerou at Imado -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: c.1920s Size: 7.5" x 10.25" Condition: Fine, no flaws, uncirculated print, never framed Impression: Fine, solid keylines, nice surface texture, tight registration Color: Fine, deep saturated color and bleed through to verso Provenance: From the Robert O. Muller Collection (see below for more information) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I originally took this print to be one of the famous "Night Scenes" series originally published by Hasegawa and still published by Nishinomiya, however, a quick look reveals the Shima Art Co. imprinteur at the bottom left. Shima was a publisher of prints, and also a distributor of original prints produced by other publishers.
