Snow at Hinuma Swamp, Mito, 1947 Kawase Hasui (1883 ? 1957) Snow at Hinuma Swamp, Mito A single fisherman in the driving snow on a small strip of land. Some of Hasui’s best work is his atmospheric scenes of snow and rain that so captivated his followers. Here a rural outpost, void of the architecture of the urban scenes, captures the beauty of rural Japan. A simple color scheme, a subtle design- beautiful.
