Friday, 27 May 2005 Triptych: The Shell Gatherers Artist: Chikanobu Format: Oban triptych: each sheet: 14.25" x 9.25" Subject: A delightful print depicting bijin and small children gathering shells in the early morning. Date: c. 1880's Condition: Slightly trimmed. Remains of album backing paper on verso. Slightly soiled. A small offsetting spot at centre base of left sheet. Minor thinning, marks and flaws. Generally quite good state. Colour: Fine colors. Impression: Fine impressions with gauffrage and burnishing.
