Beschreibung:

This boy is disguised as one of the Seven Good Luck Gods, Daikokuten (The Great Black One). Daikokuten is the deity of wealth and victory. He originated from the destructive form of the Hindu god Shiva. He began to be worshiped in Japan from the seventeenth century. He has a distinctive hat, and usually sits on a straw bag of rice. (from “Doll! Doll! Doll! / Kawase Hasui” exhibition, 2/14/2003-)
