Beschreibung:

Colour woodblock print, an oban diptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Iwai Hanshiro V (right sheet) as Shirai Gonpachi, standing with swords, and Matsumoto Koshiro V (left sheet) as Banzui Chobei, seated in a palanquin; in the ‘Suzugamori’ scene from the play ‘Reigen Soga no magaki’, (alternative title ‘Reigen Soga no kamigaki’), by Katsu Hyozo I, (Tsuruya Nanboku IV), performed at the Ichimura-za in the 4th month of 1809.
