Bear travels in heavy snow. Seiho was one of the founders of the modern Nihon-ga Kyoto school. His fluid and naturalistic depiction of subjects which combined the traditional Nihon-ga and Western realism were something very new in Meiji era. He was awarded the highly prestigious Order of Cultural Merit from Japanese government in 1937.
